Listen Dear Ones - Get this straight, O Israel, don’t take this lightly, don’t take up with strange gods, don’t worship the latest in gods. Ps. 81:8 - 9 Mess.
When I was young, I couldn’t understand why all those different people (tribes) worshipped those weird statues and poles: such things as the god of the sun, harvest, rain, probably what ever you needed at that time. (Aren’t you glad that God is the God of everyone and everything?) That just seemed so weird to me, but do we do the same thing and just have different names for our gods, today?
What do you spend your time and energy on? Money, kids, dogs, sports, TV, jobs, house, family entertainment, politics, car, me, myself, and I. Maybe more than one or two or three - where is God in your lineup?
God has been so generous with us. He asks for 10 per cent of our money (His money, really). How much time do you give God on a daily basis? That all belongs to Him, also.
Have you ever sat down and calculated your time? It is a very interesting thing to do. Most of us would be shocked at the way we spend our time. If we have 16 hours (assuming you try to sleep for 8) times 7 that equals 112 hours. Ten percent would be about 11 hours and change. Now I know we should be honoring and glorifying God all the time, but shouldn’t we take the time out of our busy lives to get to know Him? After all, we are planning to spend eternity with Him! He has all the answers, loves you, and wants the best for you.
I would say that would be 11 hours of wisely invested time.
