Pounce or Pray
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. - Galatians 6:10 NIV
Do you like everybody? Me neither! There, we said it. During the Last Supper, Jesus washed Judas’ feet. Remember, this is the same Judas who turned Him in for 30 pieces of silver just a few minutes after the Lord washed his, I'm sure, rather smelly and dirty toes. However, Jesus loved him to the end, even when he sold Him out.
I don’t think I will make it to that level. Jesus loved that man knowing what he was about to do! He must have given him a lot of chances during those three years of ministry. Judas had 3 years with our Savior . . . really?!
I have a hard time with those who are full of hate, those who do not think like me, and anybody that picks on my children. After all, we “all” have perfect children!
However, if I'm supposed to mimic Jesus' character, I have to love those people . . . put their needs before myself, even. Instead of judging their opinions or actions, I should have empathy for them.
My advice is to pray for not only the likable people, but the people who you grit your teeth around. And surprisingly, there is actually somebody out there who does not like you and me. Who would have thought?! We all sin, and to a Father who so selflessly gave us mercy, shouldn't we do the same for others?
Dear God, Help me to see others like you do. Help me keep my “want to get back attitude” at home (especially in the car). Thank you for loving me unconditionally, unconditionally, unconditionally, unconditionally. . . . . . .
