Joy after Easter
Shout for joy to God, all the earth, sing the glory of His name; make His praise glorious.
- Ps. 66:1-2
Yes, here we are three days after Easter. Have you already lost the joy of Easter? I pray not. Resurrection Day is not just a day, it is what our Christianity is based on. Our Savior rose from the dead. He took all the sins and buried them in the deepest pit. Guess what? He is still alive and preparing a place for you, That is your forever home. I get continuous joy from that, not just Easter joy, but Jesus joy.
OK, back to the temporary home (Here on earth). Wow, there is so much to bring you down: sickness, no job, bad weather (if you live in the sunny south who knows what will happen), no money, teenagers (sorry, you may have angel teenagers!), old age (that’s one for the toughest of the tough), traffic, government - ok, enough is enough. Remember we are going to bring this back to JOY. I have mentioned my Aunt Doris before. She was truly a mentor for me. I am not going to tell you her life story, but during her youth, she had tuberculosis (a taboo disease at that time) and spent three years in bed. She finished life with crippling arthritis (pain, pain, pain). Her life verse was:
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry; whether living in plenty or in want. (Phil. 4:12 NIV). She had joy all of her earthly life.
I pray Jesus is your joy on Easter and everyday!
