I Will Not Be Afraid!

The Lord is with me, I will not be afraid, what can mere mortals do to me? Psalms

118:6

I can hear you because I am saying it too, “I am afraid!” 2022 is not starting out well for me. I have lost a beloved sister-in-law, my sister is losing part of her foot, and we are all losing friends and family. The world has become insane. The devil has come to kill and destroy. He is using fear and confusion as weapons. Do you have your armour on?

I, human being that I am, only have one answer: God is still in charge; God will always be in charge; God reigns. Our world is turning to everything but God. I think watching our loved ones get sick and suffer is one of the hardest trials we face in earthly life. I have always prided myself with the ability to know what to do in tough situations.

Well, I am there, I don’t have a clue what to do but PRAY. Maybe that is what I should have been doing all along. Don’t get me wrong, I do pray, always have and always will, but sometimes, that is all there is. Do you know that we are to pray without ceasing? What exactly does that mean? We start out with the sweet prayers of childhood; God is Great; Now I Lay Me Down. . . . .; God Bless . . . . . . . . (you know, all the good and bad relatives). In all fairness, God hears these sweet prayers, but God needs to hear from us as His Adult Children. We need to pray all the time, believing and trusting in Him for the answers or the peace that comes when God says later, my child.

I am going to leave you with a poem written by Sheri Rose Shepherd from her book Fit For Excellence:

HE IS STRONG in our weakness

HE IS COMFORT when we’re in pain

HE IS LOVE when we need acceptance

HE IS PEACE when we’re haunted by fear

HE IS PROTECTION when we’re in trouble

HE HEALS OUR WOUNDS when someone or something has hurt us

HE IS OUR JOY when our hearts are grieved

HE IS OUR FRIEND when we’ve been rejected

HE IS OUR POWER when we need a miracle

GOD’S GOT YOU!
