Hard To Be Humble!

Therefore as God’s Chosen People, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Col. 3:12 NIV

We have spoken about kindness, compassion, so next is humility. Mac Davis, Country Western singer, sang a song titled, “It’s hard to be Humble When You Are Perfect in Every Way”. I have to admit that I loved the song, but really. I know he meant it as a joke, but you know some people!!!!!!!!!!!!

Humility means so many things, but mainly freedom from pride ( Now that is where a challenge comes in for all of us. Oh, what a problem we have when someone actually breaks in front of us ! We are usually happy to let the little old man with two things go ahead, but only if we make that decision. (Side note: I had relatives from Texas recently who asked if people from Tennessee knew that when someone puts on their blinker to change lanes that they are to be let in!). How about when we know we are right, but our friend knows he is right also? What’s more important, being right or the feelings of our friend?

Since all credit should be given to God, we all have the chance to be humble everyday. I must confess, I like accolades and want the world to know when I have really done well especially if I someone else gets my credit!

Of course, we can always look at our perfect model, Jesus. He at any time could have called 10,000 angels when He was being abused, put down, spit on, attacked, being nailed to a cross! (Thank you for Easter and dying for me and everybody else). When I read the Bible, I am amazed how Jesus looked at the situations and handled them bringing all Glory to God The Father!

Thought I would leave you with a few thoughts from God’s Word:

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes

wisdom. Prov. 11:2

It’s better to live humbly among the poor than to live it up among

the rich and famous. Prov. 16:19

Pride fist, then the crash, but humility is precursor to honor.

Prov. 18:12

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.

James 4:10

Have a blessed, glorious Easter. Praise God He Lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
